Track and field
3A Boys
Mount Rainier captured seventh place on the boys side with 39 points at the 3A West Central District meet as Highline took ninth with 24, Evergreen 10th with 23 and Kennedy 14th with 21.
Ryan Prentice of Mount Rainier won both the 1,600 and 3,200 distance races in respective times of 4:16.70 and 9:19.87 and Rams teammate Michael Miller won the 800 in 1:57.90. Trey Watson of Kennedy was second in the high jump at 6-2 and Jamaar Smiley was second in the discus for Highline at 152-6. Nathan McPeek of the Pirates placed third in the shot put at 51-1 1/2.
3A Girls
Mount Rainier placed 13th in West Central District girls action with 19 points and Kennedy came in 17th with 16. Highline was 28th with two points.
Melissa Yapp of Mount Rainier placed second in the shot put at 36-10 1/4 and Rebekah Kurle of Kennedy came in second in the 800 in 2:22.52. Kathleen Mulligan came in third in the triple jump in 36-0 1/4.
1A Girls
Seattle Christian came in eighth on the girls side with 33 points in Nisqually League action Saturday, May 17.
Lexi Petersen of SCS was second in the 100-meter dash in 13.03 and second in the 200 in 26.39.
1A Boys
Seattle Christian wound up 15th in the boys standings with 12 points.
Boys soccer
Kennedy 2, Sunnyside 1
Kennedy survived its state quarterfinal trip over the Cascades to Sunnyside (near Yakima) to reach this past weekend's state final four action.
The semifinals were set for Friday and the finals and third place game scheduled for Saturday at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood.
Baseball
Sea. Prep 2, Mt. Rainier 1
Mount Rainier's baseball season drew to a close in the first round of the state 3A tournament Saturday, May 10. Seattle Prep bumped the Rams out in a narrow 2-1 game.

State golf
Two-day state action opened in the Bellingham area last Tuesday for area 3A, 2A and 1A golfers.
Sean Narby of Kennedy finished in a three-way tie for 31st with a round of 78 as teammate Michael Del Mundo shot an 88 for a two-way tie for 71st. Aaron Taylor of JFK finished in a three-way tie for 74th with a round of 91.
Mount Rainier's Stephanie Corey came in third in the 3A girls competition with her round of 75. Jaden Johnson finished in a four-way tie for 24th at 92.
Rachel Forrey of Kennedy shot a 98 for 40th place and Mount Rainier's Kelsey Berg shot a 99 to wind up in a four-way tie for 41st. Julie Soderlind of the Rams shot a 123 for 78th place.
Foster fielded four girls into the 2A tournament.
Mallory Kent captured second place with a round of 78 and sister Jennifer Kent shot an 88 for a three-way tie for seventh. Katie Ross shot a 99 for a two-way tie for 31st and Michelle Bennett wound up in a three-way tie for 71st with her 126.
Alexandra Keith of Seattle Christian snagged fourth place in the 1A girls competition with a round of 79. Cory Peterson of SCS shot a 79 for a five-way tie for 13th place in boys 1A action.
