While driving down Delridge early Saturday, officers saw a woman (she turned out to be 17 years old) lying in the middle of the road. A man was walking away from her. They ordered the man to return and to show his hands. (He refused?in English--and was later found to be carrying a knife in his waistband. He also later claimed to not understand English.) The victim said she and the suspect--her 21-year-old boyfriend--had been drinking heavily and smoking marijuana. She added that yesterday he had thrown her down a flight of stairs and that today he had shoved her out of bed. The officer?s report states that she was "completely covered with bruises on her legs and arms." But the teen refused to provide a statement or let pictures be taken because she didn?t want her boyfriend to be deported.
