Regarding my letter last week in The Highline Times concerning the disappearance of Burien's radio station.
There is one correction needed. It was not KGNW who closed the KQIN studio on SW 153rd.
It was the prior owner, Green Bay Packer Willie Davis, who moved the studio to downtown Seattle. Then he sold it to Salem Broadcasting the current owner. I apologize for this error.
Someone called my home criticizing me for maligning KGNW, a Christian station.
The caller, who never left their number, alleges that's there's not enough news in Burien for a station to cover.
The caller also said I should not judge a Christian station that spreads the Gospel.
Let the shoe fall where it may.
Yes, I am a born-again Christian.
My comments concern the history of silencing small, local radio stations to be smothered by mega-owners.
And the caller stated KGNW is the only Christian outlet in the Seattle area. KCIS (610 AM) and KCMS (105.3 FM) are also Christian stations.
The fact remains that the Seattle station must use Burien in its station ID. It never covers Burien news or community events as a local station would.
And no one seems to care!
