THE CHAMPS. The Southwest Seattle Pony 11u All Stars defeated Mountlake Terrace 6 to 3 to win the King County Umpires Association Tournament.
In a highly competitive championship game, our own 2008 Southwest Seattle Pony 11u All Stars capped off a two day baseball marathon with a 6-3 win over the Mountlake Terrace Pony Baseball Redbirds at the King County Umpires Association Tournament at Auburn.
The 12-team tournament, which featured some of the regions best 11 year old all star and select teams, was held over the June 21st weekend, and was played at Game Farm Park under generally sunny skies.
The tournament opened on Saturday with a pod series against teams from Kirkland, Issaquah, and Silverdale. Seeded second in their pod, our 2008 Southwest Seattle Pony 11u All Stars went on to sweep all four play-off games on Sunday against the Spokane Studs, the Pride Baseball Club, the Performers, and the Mountlake Terrace Pony Baseball Redbirds. In an especially gritty semi-final game performance against the Performers, our Lincoln Park Lads came back from a five run deficit in the the fifth inning to win the game 12-9.
Energized by this win, the 2008 SW Seattle Pony 11u All Stars went on to win the final game and the championship plaque. The 2008 Southwest Seattle Pony 11u All Stars are Michael Sasonoff, Kevin Simmons, Ben Wexler, Cameron Slader, Dylan Ledbetter, Cameron Wong, Carter Mensing, Kevin Stordahl, Jordan Sagmoen, Emmett Abdian, Blain Steele, and Jake Magera.
During the same weekend, the 2008 SW Seattle Pony 12u All Stars had success by coming in 3rd place at the Maple Valley Pony Baseball Tournament, which was held at Ravensdale Park at Maple Valley. This was a ten team tournament, which featured some of the areas best 12 year old teams.
