A fundraising event for victims of the fatal June 29 Burien apartment fire is scheduled for July 16, beginning at 6 p.m., at Mick Kelly's Irish Pub, 435 S.W. 152nd St. in downtown Burien.
All proceeds, as well as the entire day's profits at the pub, will be donated to a special fire victims fund set up at Sterling Savings Bank.
"This is just one way to give back," said Adrian Kelly, co-owner of the pub. "We know the families may never fully recover from such a tragedy, and we just want to do what we can to help them get a bit back on their feet."
The event will feature raffle tickets, silent auctions and entertainment. Suggested donation at the door is $10.
"The residents of Burien are extremely generous," said Patty Sader, executive director of Discover Burien. "This is one way to rally everyone together to raise money for the victims of this tragedy, all while having a good time."
Other efforts are also underway to help the victims.
