Two 2008 graduates from Ballard High School have won scholarships to Western Washington University for the next academic year.
Keith Daniel, son of Jon Daniel and Diane Roubal of Seattle, received a $2,000 Leona Hickman Educational Scholarship.
The Leona Hickman Educational Scholarship is awarded to students from King County who are pursuing programs in education and who are likely to achieve academic success.
Daniel, an incoming freshman, earned a 3.69 GPA at Ballard High School, and is interested in majoring in art. Daniel was among the top 10 percent of Washington state graduates in his class. He participated in church mission trips to Florida, Mexico and Nicaragua. He enjoys cooking and spray-paint art.
Adrienne Perry, daughter of Stephen and Susan Perry of Seattle, received a $500 President's Scholarship.
President's Scholarships are awarded to approximately the top 8 percent to 10 percent of incoming freshmen and transfer students, and are based on superior academic achievement.
Perry, an incoming freshman, earned a 3.49 GPA at Ballard High School, and is interested in majoring in chemistry. Perry was enrolled at the Biotech Academy and participated in theatre performances and costume making.
