not at parade
We are very sad that we were not able to bring J.P. Patches to the West Seattle Hi-Yu Parade this year. He had a prior engagement with his wonderful granddaughter and was unable to make it.
It has been a wonderful 15 years we've had with J.P. and we have had so much fun with him in the parade. If we had a photograph of every person that teared up when they met him, we'd have enough to stretch from here to D.C.! The way his fans feel when they meet him is hard to explain, but they never fail to get a big "hello" from J.P. when they approach him.
Our history with J.P. goes back a long way, back to when Cynthia was only 5 years old and her cousin Craig was scheduled to have open heart surgery at Children's Hospital. After his surgery he was in so much pain and so afraid that he refused eat. The doctors were afraid he wasn't going to make it. But who showed up to save the day? Some old clown named J.P. Patches. He sat on Craig's bed and ate a fudgesicle with him. Well, cousin Craig is now a healthy father and grandfather. Geez, how old does that make J.P.?
So hats off to J.P.! We hope we can bring him back to you next year. Thank you so much for supporting us in the parade and in our business all these years, we really appreciate it.
