Stop by and share a story by writing n the glass, pose for a picture, and be entertained.
Evening entertainment
New this year, the festivities expand into the evening. From 6 to 11 p.m., Burien Arts A-Glow turns up the volume for an Arts Bash.
Be the first to see trapeze dancers from "Cabiri" perform on their brand new transportable trapeze rig from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Karuna Yoga parking lot. Also in Olde Burien from 6 to 7 p.m., the Bird Show of North America will play instrumental rock while an artist paints pictures of birds. The paintings will be for sale after the show for $20 each including a free CD of the group.
Muralists Sam "Sneke" Swanson and Iosefatu Sua will make their visual magic next to the Hey Paison restaurant. These two artists came together and created a 10 x 40 foot mural at the Burien Strawberry Festival in June. This mural will be installed during the art walk and the artists will work alongside it on a new piece. While they paint, Swanson and Sua take time to talk to their audience about the difference between urban art and "graffiti"or "tagging." The pair is especially interested in making sure youngsters understand that "tagging" people's property is not the same as creating art and encourage kids to find places where they can make art legally.
Burien band Lost in the Bamboo will perform in the evening by the lantern-making tent in front of Mick Kelly's Irish Pub (435 S.W. 152nd St.). Check out the hands-on community lantern-making studio from 5 to 8 p.m. and create a unique lantern to carry in an evening procession and keep afterward to bring the magic home. The studio will be set up in front of Mick Kelly's Irish Pub and A Place For Pets, where the procession will start at dusk, or approximately 8:15 p.m., and march to Olde Burien. Join the parade with the Yellow Hat Band, stilt walkers and some amazing lanterns, including a huge bird lantern.
Check out Burien Blog-stock in Olde Burien from 6 p.m. to midnight. The outdoor B-Town Blog Stage will feature live tunes by four Burien-area bands, including Daybreak, Lost in the Bamboo, Skwish and Morris Can Fly. Both The Tin Room Bar and the Mark Restaurant & Bar will have expanded outdoor seating to accommodate fans who want to watch the stage, which will be located on Southwest 152nd Street near 10th Avenue Southwest.
