Car prowlers go on shopping spree with stolen credit cards

A woman who lives on the 600 block of South 356th Street contacted Federal Way police to report that her car had been broken into and several important items - including her identification - had been stolen. The incident occurred sometime on September 10. The police report does not mention a specific time. According to the report, the woman's car appeared to have been opened by picking the lock. The woman drives a 2004 blue Volkswagen. The thieves then stole her purse from inside the vehicle, which included all of her valuables. The items included four credit cards, one debit card, $50 in cash, a driver's license, her passport, make-up, insurance cards and other odds and ends. The woman attempted to cancel her credit cards immediately, but in the 45 minutes it took to complete the cancellation, more than $850 had already been charged to one of the cards. Another had been frozen because of so many transactions in such a short period of time. The thieves also used her debit card to take more than $140 out of her checking account. No suspect information is listed in the report and officers have closed the case pending new leads.
Vandals keep trashing man's vehicle
2. Federal Way police followed up on a complaint from a man who lives on the 35400 block of 18th Avenue Southwest. The victim told officers that his vehicle was vandalized around 8:15 on the morning of September 10. According to the report, the man told officers that his silver 2000 Jeep had been keyed on the door. The man told officers that this incident is just one in a long series of malicious mischief that has occurred to his property, which includes every vehicle he parks on the street. Once an unknown person or person threw eggs at his Jeep. Another time they used a pellet of BB gun to shoot the door of his pickup. Yet another time someone damaged the fuel door of the vehicle. The report did not indicate any suspect information and officers have closed the case pending new leads.
Lost camera at Red Robin taken by employee?
3. An out-of-town resident contacted Federal Way police to report that the camera they had accidentally left at the Red Robin restaurant was no longer there. The incident occurred at the restaurant located at 2233 South 320th Street. When the couple returned home from eating at the restaurant, they called the Red Robin to see if they had left their camera there. Representatives of the restaurant told the couple that they indeed had found the camera and that they would keep it in their lost and found drawer. The couple told the restaurant representative that they would be in the next day to pick it up. When he arrived, the camera was no longer in the lost and found drawer, and it hasn't been since. The couple believes and employee of the restaurant decided to take it home with them. The couple admits that Red Robin has offered to replace the camera, but they are still upset that they lost the photos from their trip. No other information is listed in the report.
Man receives threatening letter after traffic incident
The resident of an apartment complex located at 1300 Southwest Campus drive contacted Federal Way police to report that he had received a threatening letter from an unknown person. The incident occurred sometime around 7:30 a.m. on the morning of September 10. The letter from the unknown person threatened to kill him and his family. The man handed over the two page letter and presented it to Federal Way police. The letter was booked into evidence. According to the report, there is a possible suspect in the case. The man told police that he was involved in a traffic collision on Mercer Island, and he believes the person with whom he had the accident might have written the letter.
Traffic stop leads to arrest of fugitive
5. Federal Way police were able to track down a person with several outstanding warrants after conducting a routine traffic stop in the city. The incident took place at the Dairy Queen on 21st Avenue SW around 11 p.m. on the evening of September 10. According to the report, Federal Way officers pulled over the driver of a white 1991 Honda for 12 month expired tabs. After running the driver's name through the system, they discovered that she was guilty of driving with a suspended license in the third degree. The driver, Sheila M. Rood, also had two outstanding warrants of Kent. Sheila M. Rood was arrested and transported to the custody of the Kent Police Department. Federal Way officers had her Honda towed. .
