The 33rd Legislative District will have a new representative following the Nov. 4 election.
Social worker Tina Orwall, who received over 60 percent of the primary vote, is facing advertising agency owner Todd Gibson in the race to replace Rep Shay Schual-Berke. The veteran lawmaker did not seek reelection.
Orwall is the former chairwoman of the 33rd District Democrats.
Gibson listed the G.O.P. Party as his preference on the ballot. He is also an adjunct instructor at Highline Community College in Des Moines.
Incumbent 33rd District Rep. Dave Upthegrove, a Democrat, is being challenged by Tan Lam, who also listed the G.O.P Party as his preference. Upthegrove received almost 70 percent of the primary vote.
Senate Ways and Means chairwoman Margarita Prentice was challenged by two fellow Democrats in the 11th District primary race. Prentice received almost 50 percent of the primary vote. Juan Martinez outpolled South Park attorney Scott McKay to move on to the general election ballot.
Martinez is a former aide to U.S. Rep. Jim McDermott and former co-director of the Washington Tax Fairness Coalition.
In 11th District House races, Democratic Rep. Zack Hudgins is opposed by David M. Morris, prefers Cut Taxes G.O.P. Party, and Democratic Rep. Bob Hasegawa is going against Republican John Potter.
In the 34th District, Sen. Joe McDermott, Rep. Eileen Cody and Rep. Sharon Nelson are unopposed. They are all Democrats.
Nelson is facing her first election after being appointed to fill McDermott's seat when he was picked for the Senate.
The Burien/Normandy Park Fire Department (King County Fire District 2) has placed a bond measure on the ballot to replace its two fire stations.
At 36 cents per $1,000 of assessed value, the bond would raise $25 million over 20 years to build two new stations, including a training facility.
It is the first time in the department's 80-year history that it has requested a bond.
Other races on the ballot include president and vice president, governor and other state offices, U.S. representative and superior court judges.
State initiatives and King County charter amendments will also be voted on.
