The first of four public meetings to engage the public in the design of a small scale, natural play area at California Place will take place Nov. 6 at the Hiawatha Community Center, 2700 California Ave. S.W.
The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
At a public meeting in September, some nearby residents were concerned for the safety of a park located on California Avenue and the environmental impact of construction at the site.
Seattle Parks and Recreation will hold three additional meetings, but the dates, times and locations are yet to be released.
Parks is seeking input from the public on the elements they would like to see included and on what design best fist within the community.
California Place Park is located at California Avenue Southwest and Southwest Hill Street.
The project design is funded by the city's Neighborhood Matching Fund program, which provides cash grants to neighborhood and community organizations for a wide variety of neighborhood-based projects
