Cross country
SPSL meet
South Puget Sound League championship action was held Wednesday, Oct. 22 at Fort Steilacoom Park, with local teams scoring high finishes.
Thomas Jefferson took third place on the girls side with Todd Beamer fifth, while the Titans were third on the boys side with TJ ninth.
The Raider girls scored 98 points for their high finish and Beamer scored 119. The Federal Way girls were 13th with 365 points and Decatur 17th with 465.
As for the Beamer boys, they scored 152 points while TJ scored. Decatur placed 14th with 383 and Federal Way 16th with 422.
Tyler Kartes of Todd Beamer came in fifth in the individual race with a time of 19 minutes, 58.4 seconds and teammate Sarah Mussa came in right behind her in 19:58.8 for sixth.
Federal Way’s Jasmine Johnson placed eighth in 20:02.7 just ahead of three TJ runners. Vanessa Benum of the Raiders placed 10th in 20:08.5 and Lacey Printz was 12th in 20:14.1 with Camryn Patrick 13th in 20:17.5.
Chase Braxmeyer was the only area boy to break into the top 10 finishes, coming in 10th in 16:43.2.
West Central District cross country action took place this past weekend at American Lake and state is set for this Saturday in Pasco.
Girls soccer
Beamer 3, Curtis 0
Meghan Graf earned the shutout for the Titans, and Holland Cook scored what turned out to be the winning goal on an unassisted play in the 20th minute. Megan Miller struck on an Avery Salisbury assist in the 54th minute and Jessica Niewoehner knocked in a Miller assist in the 73rd.

Ashley Graves scored Decatur’s lone goal in the 74th minute on an unassisted play.

Lauren Jerden scored three goals for a hat trick by halftime Saturday, Oct. 25.

Liz Fitch and Noel Price split the shutout as the Raiders blanked the Chargers Thursday. Hannah Friedman scored the only goal on a Lauren Jerde assist.

Swimming
SPSL meet
Todd Beamer took first place with 221 points in the Saturday, Oct. 25 action and Thomas Jefferson came in fourth with 123.
Beamer opened with a win in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:53.73 and the Titans’ Rachael Kim came in first in the 200 individual medley in 2:13.50. Decatur’s Crowder was second in 2:16.96 in the IM.
Amber Cratsenberg of Thomas Jefferson sped to a win in the 50 in 24.38 with Erin Murphy of Beamer second in 25.63 and Decatur’s Briley Boggs third in 25.90.
Robinson-Hamm of Decatur scored 326.35 points to win diving, with Decatur teammate Hansen second with 324.60 and Wiley of Todd Beamer third with 312.30.
Boggs won the 100 butterfly in 1:00.53 for Decatur, with Beamer’s Erickson second in 1:02.09 and TJ’s Sue Coe third in 1:02.45.
Cratsenberg captured her second win of the day in the 100 with a time of 54.42 and the Titans’ Murphy was second in 55.50.,
Todd Beamer took the 200 free relay in 1:43.66 and the Titans’ Kim won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.24 ahead of the 1:03.69 time of Decatur’s Crowder. The Raiders’ Coe won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.55.
Volleyball
TJ 3, Federal Way 0
The Raiders posted a 25-11, 25-18, 25-14 victory over the Eagles Monday, Oct. 27.
Ansotigue scored four aces, five kills and six digs and Eckert five aces, four kills and three digs. Green had two aces, 11 kills and two digs and Nugent six kills and two blocks. Crowe contributed 21 assists and Malamura had three aces.
