The West Seattle coed varsity swim team, including seven members from West Seattle High School and two from Chief Sealth, competed Oct. 31 in the all-metro finals at Helene Madison School in North Seattle.
Head coach Christine Martin said she was pleased that her 400-yard freestyle relay team placed sixth overall to qualify for this Friday's district competition. If they maintain their standing or of course, improve, they will advance to state. Swimming the relay in 4.28.66 were Ellen Thomson, Mikayla Nichols, Melanie Frey, and Jensen Perdue.
Frey also finished second place overall in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard freestyle.
