A new Student Assignment Plan is one of the major initiatives identified in the District's Strategic Plan, Excellence for All. The framework for a new Student Assignment Plan was approved by the Seattle School Board in June 2007.
Informational meetings were held Oct. 23, 27 and Nov. 1 at Ingraham High School, Rainier Beach High and the district headquarters.
Discussion focused on elements of the current Student Assignment Plan community members liked, what improvements to the plan they would like to see and what information they needed about the current assignment plan or about the process of developing the new assignment plan
Future phases for development of the new Student Assignment Plan are:
Developing Academic and Operational Guiding Principles: November 2008 January 2009
Modeling Different Scenarios based on the Academic/Operational Principles: January 2009 March 2009
Designing the Student Assignment Plan and Phase-In Strategy: March 2009, June 2009
Planning for the Phase-In Strategy: July 2009 October 2009
Implementing the New Enrollment Process: November 2009 April 2010
