The Colman Pool caretaker awoke to the sound of breaking glass on Saturday night and found a man climbing into the facility through a broken window. When confronted, the man fled on foot through Lincoln Park. Officers found a truck in a parking lot, which they opened using keys that the suspect had dropped at the pool. Nearby they found a picnic table covered with pornographic magazines. A bit later, a woman called 911 from a residence on SW Cloverdale to report a break-in, with the suspect still inside the home. The suspect, a Level-3 sex offender, was arrested a few blocks away. He had taken several items from the residence and was also carrying a large number of sex toys, lube condoms, and women?s panties.
A 15-year-old was taken into custody after he argued with his father while swinging a butcher knife. Before officers arrived, he threw the knife directly at dad but missed, sending the knife crashing through a large living room window.
A patron of a local gym was wondering about the gym?s responsibility for items stolen from the locker room. It seems she took off her diamond earring and diamond bracelet, worth nearly $5,000, and placed them in her purse, which she then placed in a locker. Oh yes, she shut the locker door. But she didn't bother to secure it with a lock. The officer explained that the gym likely wasn't responsible, and he suggested she invest on a lock or leave valuables in her car trunk.
