Out of control

A 55-year-old Beach Drive resident was arrested for DUI, assault on an officer, refusal to stop, and reckless driving after she nearly crushed an officer in an attempt to drive off from the Luna Park parking lot. Following arrest, she spent the remainder of the evening banging her head against the cell bars, crying and howling.
Hooray for alert citizens who called 911 to report suspicious activity in North Admiral last week. Their vigilance and willingness to get involved resulted in the arrest of three young men (at least two of them West Seattle residents of record) who had broken into a home on Prescott Ave. SW and stolen numerous items.
Down on Beach Drive, a citizen reports that yet again one of her family's vehicles has been targeted. (Their cars and a boat have suffered damage in seven previous incidents.) This time someone completely cut out the taillights from their truck, making it necessary to rewire the entire vehicle. In this case, the truck had been parked on the street.
When the young woman applied for a cell phone account, she was told that an account had been associated with her social security number since 1993. when she was three years old.
A girl who claims she "sort of" works at a local fast-food place is nervous: She recently had coworkers spit into the burgers that she gave away free to a couple of fellows. The victims found out about it, and when they ran into her they allegedly spat in her face and broke the turn signal inside the car she was driving?without, as officers noted, a driver?s license or learner's permit.
At 10:30 a.m., in the 10800 block of 31st SW, a woman called 911 to report that a man in his twenties, driving a loud blue pickup truck, had come to her door asking for assistance. First he asked for gas. Then he said he needed police and needed to call his dad (but then told the woman that dad's phone had been disconnected). He returned to his truck (which he had left running) and drove off.
Social workers called officers to the DSHS office for assistance. A homeless 17-year-old had come in, reporting that her 47-year-old mother (who has a history of neglect with her other ten children) is also homeless and apparently unable to care for her. Officers provided paperwork that allowed DSHS to place the girl?who says she is eager to "get on with her life"? into foster care without her mother's consent.
A young man was taken to the Youth Service Center after a family disagreement became physical. There is no history of violence between the siblings, but family history does exist: It seems that the military found good reason to incarcerate the boys' former stepfather for domestic violence abuse, both physical and mental. The boys are in currently in counseling.
A patient has been told not to return to a doctor?s office after she became agitated while waiting for an appointment and said, "I?ve been known to carry guns in these places."
As officers explained to the 56-year-old man that he was being taken into custody for a competency hearing, the man balked, saying that for the past 150 years he had been responsible for supplying the city of Seattle with all of its power, and that last time he went on vacation the city went dark. He was transported to Harborview without incident.
