In the West Seattle Herald this week (Nov. 12) there was an article about King County employees having to take 10 unpaid furlough days to help with the 2009 budget deficit.
My question is will Ron Sims and his executive staff as well as the county council also be taking the 10 days off unpaid, or is this just for the "little people?" The "little people" are already bailing out the financial institutions and now maybe the car industries, and with all the levies and initiatives that have passed, how are people without work with families to support and seniors struggling to make ends meet survive? Where is the money going to come from to pay for all this? How much more can the government take from us?
I hope at the very least Ron Sims will do the same as he is asking of his county employees who are already struggling in this economy.
