The Seattle Public Library's Green Lake Branch and book drop reopened to the public on Nov. 19.
The branch and book drop were closed Oct. 2 to remove mold found in a crawl space. The library worked with several remediation companies to remove the mold and lead paint on the walls of the crawl space, deep clean the building, and complete air quality tests.
The library discovered the mold while investigating odors detected in the building. A city industrial hygienist identified the Stachybotrys mold in an air sample of the crawl space - an area of the building that wasn't remodeled during the Libraries for All construction program.
Library administrators decided to close the building as a precaution until the mold could be removed and additional air quality testing could be completed.
