ROTARY ROYALTY. Past presidents of the Southcenter Rotary gathered recently in Tukwila to celebrate the organization's 40th anniversary. In 40 years, the group has donated more than $400,000 to the local community and Rotary International projects.<br><br>
A fun-filled celebration at the Double Tree Suites, Southcenter, on Monday October 7, 2008, marked highlights of 4 decades of service to the Tukwila area.
In its 40 years, the Southcenter Rotary Club has contributed more than $400,000 to local community and Rotary International projects. In addition, the club has given $183,779 to The Rotary Foundation. This is the same foundation that matched the Gates Foundation $100 million grant for eradication of polio worldwide.
Southcenter Rotary has sponsored Exchange Students from Australia, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Sweden, Finland, France, Russia, Philippines, Peru, Argentina and Japan.
Among the many local projects, Southcenter Rotary annually awards $1,000 college scholarships to 12 deserving students from Foster and Seattle Christian High Schools and provides picture dictionaries to select 3rd grade students.
