A Ballard real-estate agent visited a vacant home he has listed and was surprised to discover that someone had stolen a chandelier from the premises. There were no signs of forced entry to the residence.
At the skateboard park early Thursday evening, a young man struck another in the head with a skateboard and rifled through the victim's pockets as he lay on the ground. The suspect is a black male, aged 18-20, about 5'10. He wore a black hat and glasses.
Suspicious activities have occurred in the checking and savings accounts and in the safety-deposit box of a local elderly resident. Some items have disappeared, and family recently went to her home (she is currently in a care facility) and discovered furniture moved around and some of it tagged, as if for an estate sale. One relative is known to have a house key and access to accounts but had not been permission to sell or liquidate possessions. Family members have now changed the locks in the house, and the victim has retained an attorney.
Late Friday, two men approached their car near 20th Northwest and Shilshole Northwest. As they climbed in, a man jumped in the way, pointed a gun, and demanded the driver's wallet, cellphone and car keys. He also took the passenger's personal items, climbed into the driver's seat, and drove off. Within nine minutes of the incident officers spotted the carjacked vehicle being driven near Northwest 80th and 24th Northwest. The driver abandoned the vehicle at a dead end and was found hiding nearby in an unlocked van parked in the 8700 block of 24th Northwest. When captured, he had the victims' possessions and was later positively identified by the victims. The 35-year-old Renton man was booked into King County Jail for investigation of armed robbery and on an outstanding $20,000 warrant for narcotics violations.
Saturday evening, near Russell Northwest and Northwest 17th, a 30-year-old woman was shoved to the ground by a young man who ran up behind her. He then put one foot on her stomach for leverage as he grabbed her purse. Three other robberies occurred in the same general area around the same time.
Sometime between Sunday and Wednesday, someone pried open a vehicle in the 7500 block of 12th Northwest and stole a set of golf clubs.
A woman with a history of making excessive returns tried to bring back a pair of pants she had purchased at the Ballard Walgreen's. When the clerk pointed out that the pants had been trimmed up and hemmed and could not be returned, fisticuffs ensued. The suspect has been trespassed from the store.
