Police Blotter Week of 4.27.09: Just the fax, ma'am

Technology caught up with a local 13-year-old who stole money from his mother, shoved a computer off a table onto her leg, and then threated to kill her in her sleep and burn down the house. Told he might be heading to Bremerton, a West Seattle officer faxed a photo of the boy to State Patrol officers patrolling the ferry docks and alerted them that there was probably cause to make an arrest. A short time later, the boy was taken into custody at the pier. He was booked into the Youth Service Center for investigation of domestic violence/threats to kill.
An 18-year-old wanted on two outstanding felony warrants for theft and a $5,000 warrant for domestic violence was picked up Wednesday evening after an officer spotted him going into an Admiral convenience store.
Two concerned women searched for their elderly neighbor and found her on the bathroom floor, disoriented and dehydrated. Medics estimated that she had been there for three days. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Please lock your doors when gardening: Around 6 p.m. Thursday, a resident was doing yard work at a home in the 6700 block of 36th Southwest. A stranger entered the house through a basement door but was surprised by the woman of the house who called out from upstairs, thinking that the footsteps she heard were those of her husband. The suspect ran from the residence, leaving dirty footprints behind.
About a half hour later, in the 6300 block of 39th, a woman surprised a burglar who had entered her home through an unlocked door as she was outside trimming bushes. The suspect got away with the victim's purse. He was a white male in his 30s with a slim build. He had long dirty blond hair, with facial stubble and hollow cheeks. He wore a blue/gray parka and left the scene on a bicycle.
A Beach Drive-area resident saw a driver back into his car and leave the scene without leaving a note. (The driver did, however, leave behind a partially consumed bottle of Bacardi on the curb.) The resident followed the car to Mee Kwa Mooks Park, where he confronted the man. When asked why he left the scene, the angry driver yelled, “Get back in your f'&%'n car!” and then punched the resident in the eye. The two ended up wrestling in the middle of Beach Drive before the suspect drove off. Officers found the suspect's car near his residence in North Admiral and, after a foot pursuit, arrested the 23-year-old driver, who is a convicted felon. He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of DUI, negligent driving, hit and run, assault, and obstruction.
In another DUI incident, an officer saw a female driver strike a parked car in the 3200 block of California Southwest early Saturday. The force of the impact moved the victim's car at least 50 feet from where it had been parked. The impaired driver, a 51-year-old Alki-area woman, will be investigated for DUI and negligent driving.
A couple of teens enjoyed West Seattle's most expensive burger this weekend. The two shoplifted about $40 worth of meat, ketchup, and buns from the Admiral Safeway. They were followed to their car by an employee and denied any wrongdoing. But the employee was holding onto the car's roof rack during their little chat, and as the suspects sped from the parking lot, the roof rack disengaged--leaving the employee holding not only the rack, but a nice snowboard and bindings. They are now in the police evidence room, in case the boys want to claim them.
Also at the Admiral Safeway, a woman was sitting in her car in the parking lot Saturday afternoon. Two teen boys walked by, and one reached in her open window and stole her purse.
