On Northwest 64th Street, a woman failed to lock her door while she was outside gardening. At one point she looked up and saw a well-dressed Hispanic man, aged 30-50, with curly short black hair walking away from her front door. Going inside, she discovered that her purse had been moved and her wallet was missing.
Late Friday, at a bar in 8100 block of Greenwood, one customer invited another to sit down at the bar. But this seemingly friendly gesture went awry when, after a few minutes of discussion, one man punched the other in the side of the head and walked out the door. Though the victim complained of hearing loss, he declined medical attention.
Early on July 23, someone took took offense at a car parked near 85th and 15th. “The owner returned to find his wipers, hood ornament, and side mirrors bent and damaged.
On the morning of July 21, citizens reported seeing a disoriented woman in a diaper at the corner of Sycamore and Northwest 73rd. She told officers that she lived on the street and complained of pain in her “back, neck, and mind.” Nearby, on the urine-soaked ground, was a notebook full of illegible scribbles. When asked if she wanted to hurt herself, she just smiled and looked away. The woman—who was in her twenties--was transported to Swedish Ballard for an involuntary mental examination.
Just before 8 p.m. on Thursday night, near 24th and Northwest 56th, a couple had just left their parked car when a Hispanic male in his 20s, 5 feet 4 inches with a thin build and baseball cap approached and began shouting obscenities. He pulled a handgun from his pants pocket, and yelled, “I'm a gangster. I'll F*#@ you up.” After shoving the gun in his waistband, he walked away...but not before turning and brandishing the gun at the pair a second time. An area check turned up nothing.
In the 1400 block of Northwest 63rd Street, a resident had called Animal Control about an abandoned cat. A crate was delivered to the man's house, along with an ID tag. He placed food in the crate and left it on the front porch. The next morning, both the cat and the crate were gone.
