Officers were called to 52nd Avenue Northwest recently when citizens found a drunk man lying in their tomato patch. The combative fellow couldn't stand up or take care of himself. He was transported to Harborview.
On a recent Saturday morning, a citizen reports that he had gone to a at a gas station in the 4000 block of 3rd Avenue Northwest to wire money, when a stranger walked up and began kicking him in the legs and torso. The clerk was in the back of the store at the time and did not witness the incident.
Ever since traveling in Brazil several years ago, a local woman has been dealing with unwanted contacts (phone/mail/email) from a woman she met during the journey. Though the victim told the woman she wanted no further contact (and changed her and her husband's phone numbers) the contact continued. Earlier this year, the woman moved to Seattle, showed up at the victim's doorstep, and had to be escorted from the premises by officers when she refused to leave. The victim called 911 to report that the suspect has been in the neighborhood again.
A 16-year-old driver is suspected in a road-rage incident where he tailgated a slow-moving car that was looking for an address, then swerved around it, yelling. He then allegedly followed victims to the parking lot at Swanson's Nursery, screamed at them, but took off in a hurry when he realized that 911 had been called. Because they had the license plate of the car, officers were able to visit with the registered owner of the vehicle and determine who the likely driver was.
A man was sitting at a table in a Greenwood restaurant when a stranger approached and asked for the time. When the victim replied that he didn't have a watch, the stranger got aggressive and told the victim to step outside. An employee who witnessed the incident told the suspect to leave. He did so, but not before stopping at the window, pointing at the victim, and making a “stabbing motion” with his hand.
Dispatchers sent officers to a home on Northwest 80th after receiving a report that a suicidal male had cut himself with lighter fluid. The man's roommate let the officers into the home, where they spoke with the victim. He stated, yes he did want to kill himself and that he was depressed over the death of a family member. His plan: to douse himself with lighter fluid and “electrocute” himself with his “electronics.” Officer had him transported to Harborview for a mental evaluation.
