Kennedy 42, Highline 17
John F. Kennedy Catholic High School scored 28 points in the second quarter on its way to a 42-17 victory over crosstown rival Highline Saturday, Sept. 26.
The Lancers gained 365 yards on the ground and 90 yards in the air, compared to 122 yards rushing and 130 yards passing for the Pirates.
L.J. Jennings led the rushing attack of JFK with 210 yards, while Darian Brooks gained a net 96. Kennedy quarterback Jason Thompson completed four of six passes for three touchdowns and 90 yards.
Highline had 130 yards rushing from Jimmy Hellums, who also caught two passes for 54 yards. Samson Jaramillo-King caught four passes for 51 yards.
The Pirates actually jumped out to a 3-0 lead with 7:49 to play in the first quarter when Umelo Ugwoaba was on target with a 27-yard field goal.
Brooks answered with a 6-yard touchdown run, however, and Christian Velte was accurate on his first of five extra point kicks for a 7-3 Lancer advantage.
Brooks then caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Thompson with 9:44 to go in the second quarter, before Highline's Austin Rodriguez-Jaramillo punched in a 1-yard run and Ugwoaba made his kick to close the gap to 14-10.
But Kennedy Catholic scored the next three touchdowns, all in the second quarter.
Brooks found paydirt on a 67-yard run at 6:43 to go before the half, then Chandler Breaux snagged a 51-yard pass from Thompson at the 5:03 mark.
Vince McCluskey then caught an 11-yard pass from Thompson with 49 seconds left.
Both teams scored one touchdown in the third quarter, but no one scored in the fourth quarter.
Jimmy Hellums of Highline scored on a 53-yard run at 8:27 to go in the third quarter and Ugwoaba's kick was good, then Orion Prescott of Kennedy scored on a 3-yard touchdown run with 2:51 to go and Velte's kick brought the score to its final margin.
Kennedy 48, Foster 14
The Lancers visited the Bulldogs Friday and scored a lopsided win.

Kennedy 3, Evergreen 0
The Lancers of Kennedy Catholic knocked over Evergreen in three games Tuesday, Sept. 29. JFK prevailed, 25-15, 25-12, 25-10.
Katie Key led the team with 30 assists and added five aces, four digs and two kills. Jennica McPherson scored 13 kills and Vivian McLean had four aces, one assist and seven digs.
The Lancers improved their overall record to 12-0 to go with a 1-0 Seamount League record.
Kennedy 3, Highline 0
John F. Kennedy Catholic pushed the Pirates aside last Thursday, Oct. 1 by a 23-25, 25-20, 25-9, 25-23 score.
Katie Key scored seven aces for JFK to go with 36 assists, 10 digs, seven kills and one block.
Vivian McLean recorded three aces, 11 digs and 13 kills and Jennica McPherson had 20 kills and eight digs. Lauren Zilke had two aces, seven digs and six kills.
Boys golf
Kennedy 88, Renton 9
Jordan Glidden won medalist honors for the Lancers last Thursday, Oct. 1 with a round of 40.
Girls golf
Kennedy 114, Renton 21
Jaden Johnson and Rachel Forrey of Kennedy tied for first with rounds of 45 last Thursday, Oct. 1.
