Todd Beamer tore out of the gates quickly Thursday, taking a 28-0 lead on the Emerald Ridge Panthers of Puyallup's South Hill.
From there it was not so pretty, as Emerald Ridge chipped the lead down to a final score of 28-13.
"It was a good start," said Todd Beamer Titans head coach David Sundheim. "We expected to come out and take it to them early."
The Titans scored the first points of the game on their first possession, and with only 2 minutes, 3 seconds off the first quarter clock.
Senior quarterback Ben Draeger found sophomore wide receiver Nick Bod open on the right sideline and threw a 42-yard connection.
Draeger remained on the Field Turf at Federal Way Memorial Stadium to tack on the extra point kick and make it 7-0.
The touchdown came on only the fourth play from scrimmage, and the Titans turned around to force the Panthers to punt on their fourth play from scrimmage.
Beamer took over possession at the Emerald Ridge 47-yard line, then scored on a 2-yard run by TJ Esekielu followed by a fake and 23-yard keeper by Draeger and a 22-yard touchdown run by Esekielu.
Draeger's extra point kick ran the lead to 14-0 with 7:29 to play in the first quarter.
Draeger also scored the next touchdown, hitting Nicky Fualaau open the right side on a 9-yard pass with 10:34 left in the second quarter.
Draeger booted the ball through the uprights to up he score to 21-0.
"Our quarterback Ben Draeger played a great game," said Sundheim.
Todd Beamer's next touchdown came at the end of a 79-yard, 15-play drive that wore the clock down from 8:47 to go in the fourth quarter to only 1:04 to go.
Fullback Marley Liulama struck on a 4-yard run for the score and Draeger came on to hit yet another extra point kick and up the Titans' lead to 28-0.
The feeling of invincibility left as the second quarter clock expired, when Ter Mal ran for a 7-yard touchdown for Emerald Ridge.
Luke Logan kicked the Panthers' PAT through the uprights and the Beamer lead was now 28-7 for halftime.
The Titans then held their homecoming festivities, but it was Emerald Ridge that celebrated the first score of the second half, when Logan laced a 32-yard field goal through to make it 28-10.
The Panthers got what turned out to be the final points with 10:41 left in the fourth quarter, this time on a 38-yard field goal by Logan.
The Titans evened their record at 3-3 with the win, and they return to the field Friday, Oct. 16 to face Bethel at Art Crate Field in Graham.
