Kennedy Catholic cruised past Tukwila rival Foster in Seamount League action Friday, Oct. 2.
L.J. Jennings started off the scoring for the Lancers, taking the ball in from 13 yards out on the run. Christian Velte then kicked his first of six extra points for a 7-0 lead at 8:38 to play in the first quarter.
Jamal Johnson then put Foster on the scoreboard with 6:24 to go but a pass for two points failed to leave the margin at 7-6.
Kennedy Catholic then got on track with five unanswered touchdowns, all of which were followed by Velte PAT kicks.
Jennings scored on a 1-yard run with 11:13 to go in the second quarter and Kevin Taylor scored on a 38-yard interception return at the 10:18 mark.
Darian Brooks struck on a 39-yard run at 5:11 to go in the half.
Brooks started off the third quarter by scoring on a 2-yard run with 10:03 on the clock, then Orion Prescott punched in a 2-yard run at 5:42 to play in the third quarter.
Foster broke the string with 8:57 to go in the fourth quarter, as Norman Moimoi scored on a 10-yard run and Jamal Johnson ran for a two-point conversion.
Dezmond Wilson got the last word in for Kennedy with only 1:06 left to play in the game, scoring on a 30-yard run to bring the final score to 48-14.
Antonio Valencia led the JFK rushers with 129 yards and Johnson and Moimoi both led Foster with 60 yards.
Kennedy 38, Renton 13
Kennedy Catholic gave Renton a similar rough going on the scoreboard Friday, Oct. 9. The Lancers gained 315 yards rushing and 153 yards passing for a 468 total.
Darian Brooks started off the scoring for Kennedy by catching a 21-yard touchdown pass from Eddie Faw, and Christian Velte kicked his first of five successful extra point tries for a 7-0 lead with 9:25 to play in the first quarter.
Brooks then scored on a 7-yard run with 4:05 left in the quarter, then Velte kicked a 30-yard field goal with 1:15 left in the second quarter for a 17-0 lead.
LJ Jennings scored on a 2-yard run at 9:33 to play in the third quarter and Velte’s kick was good for a 24-0 lead. Renton scored at 5:58 to play in the quarter to cut the margin to 24-7, but Jennings answered with a 1-yard touchdown run at the 7:10 mark of the fourth quarter.
Renton closed the gap to 24-13 at 6:53 to go on a 92-yard kickoff return by Marcus Clinton before Brooks scored on a 90-yard run with 5:04 remaining in the game.
Velte’s kick brought the score to its final 38-13 margin.
Brooks gained 149 total yards on the ground for JFK, with Valencia adding 82 and Jennings 66. Jason Thompson completed six of 10 passes for 80 yards, while Faw completed two of three for 73 yards. Chandler Breaux caught three passes for 79 yards.

Kennedy Catholic dealt Renton a 25-13, 25-12, 25-16 loss last week.
Katie Key led the way with 11 assists and Nicole Post added seven assists. Jennica McPherson paced the team with 10 kills.
Kennedy 3, Foster 0
The Lancers went on to defeat Foster by a 25-17, 25-14, 25-20 score last Thursday, Oct. 8.
Key racked up 31 assists and Vivian McLean led with nine kills.
