On Tuesday, December 15, 2009, the Sealth Seahawks (2-0 overall, 2-0 league) played their second game of the season against the Eastside Catholic Crusaders (1-4 overall, 1-3 league). Senior Greg Wilson won the tip and Sealth quickly scored the first basket. As the clock kept running, junior Keon Lewis stole the ball from Eastside and Sealth led by 4. During the second quarter, senior Daniel Davis scored to put Sealth up by 8. The Crusaders were loosing their breath as Lewis passes the ball to his fellow teammate and senior Tomas Ogbaslassie who’s lay up gave Sealth a 12 point lead. The Crusaders got the ball back hoping for a shot, but the Seahawks stole the ball away for another two points. One one play late in the second quarter, junior Tre’von Lane jetted down the court and threw a quick pass to Wilson who attacked the rim for a dunk, but he missed. Ogbaslassie, still determined, got the rebound and Sealth led by 17 at the half.
Wilson again got the team off to a good start in the third quarter with a prefect lay up and Sealth pushed the lead to 25. Near the end of third quarter the Crusaders were sweating like no other. Lewis passed to Davis for another lay up. Sealth then lead by 30 making it hard for the Crusaders to catch up.
In fourth quarter, sophomore Lucas Boyd scored two - his first two points as a varsity player. Following that, junior Korwin Flowers stole the ball for another quick lay up and a 34 point Sealth lead. The Crusaders were able to score a handful of baskets down the stretch, but as the buzzer went off, the Crusaders walked to their bench disappointed while the Seahawks walked off with a 25 point win. The final score was 63-38. Sealth was led by 15 points from Ogbaslassie and 13 from Flowers. Davis and Lewis chipped in 9 points each.
Friday night marks a big game in the Metro league, as Sealth hosts Rainier Beach, currently 3-0 and ranked first in state in 3A by the Seattle Times. The boys tip off at 6:15pm.
