A disastrous first quarter allowed Woodinville to put an end to the Ballard High School boys basketball team's two-game win streak Dec. 18.

The Beavers were outscored 11-3 in the first quarter but hung with Woodinville the rest of the way, eventually losing 44-38.

Junior Salim Gloyd scored a game-high 11 points. Freshman Seth Berger and senior Gary Smith added six apiece.

Ballard is 1-3 in KingCo and 2-3 overall.

The Beavers play in the Surf 'N Slam Tournament from Dec. 28 to Dec. 30. After that they return to conference play against winless Newport at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 5 at Newport High School.
