Federal Way athletes headed to Special Olympics

Thirty-nine Special Olympics Washington athletes will compete in the Special Olympics 2010 USA National Games from July18 – 23rd in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The athletes are scheduled to depart Sea Tac airport for Lincoln on July 17th in time for Opening Ceremonies on the18th at the Bob Devaney Sports Center at the University of Nebraska.
Representing Washington from the Federal Way area in soccer are: Alexander Wells, Cody Peterson, John Kalvin Emmett, Keith Stamper, Roy Firstrider, Chance Ralphs, Cory Dempsey, Juan Leos, and Laura Gorgen. Each athlete has spent the year training and developing skills, having fun, and building self-esteem and the confidence to compete at such a high level.
Approximately 4,000 athletes and coaches and nearly 15,000 family members, sponsors and officials are expected to attend the National Games in the Omaha/Lincoln area for 7 days of serious world-class competition in 14 sports.
Washington State athletes will be giving their strongest and best performance in the various competitive sports featured including: bowling, aquatics, power lifting, golfing, soccer, and athletics all in hope of bringing home the Gold.
