The road construction throughout the SODO (South Downtown) district is continuing and the City of Seattle issued an update today on traffic restrictions caused by the work being done.

- Beginning approximately March 10th, 4th Ave S will be restricted to one travel lane in each direction near the Spokane St Viaduct for eight weeks for shaft drilling and column placement.

- Airport Way S paving will begin March 15th between S Royal Brougham Way and S Spokane St.

- Crews will be closing the Alaskan Way Viaduct Saturday, March 27th and Sunday, March 28th for bi-annual maintenance.

Full closure on 4th Ave S for falsework removal

4th Ave S will be fully closed between Royal Brougham and Atlantic St to remove falsework underneath the new ramp.

Airport Way S Paving - Phase 1

Crews will be paving Airport Way S between S Royal Brougham Way and S Spokane St. Two lanes of traffic will be open in the peak direction, one lane in the opposite direction. Work will begin near Royal Brougham and move south.

1st Ave S EB On-Ramp to the West Seattle Bridge Permanently Closed

Crews will permanently close the 1st Ave S eastbound on-ramp to the West Seattle Bridge. Crews will then begin to rebuild an on/off-ramp on 1st Ave S at S Spokane St. The new structure is slated to open in 2012.

Crews will be working on 4th Ave S between Hinds and Dakota streets. One travel lane will be open in each direction.

Crews will be paving S Dearborn St between 5th Ave S and 10th Ave S.

Spokane Street 4th Avenue Eastbound Off-Ramp and Widening Projects (SDOT)

Eastbound S Spokane St between East Marginal Way and 6th Ave is closed.

Through March 2010

1st Ave S will be reduced to two travel lanes in each direction from approximately Hanford to Dakota streets. Parking will also be removed in this area.

Through Dec 2012

Westbound S Spokane St is closed between 6th Ave and East Marginal Way till the end of 2012.

Closed Permanently

The Westbound Off-Ramp from the Spokane Street Viaduct to northbound 4th Ave S into SODO is closed and will be demolished.

SR 519

The sidewalk on the north side of Edgar Martinez Way is closed. Also, crews have closed the stairs and sidewalk on the southbound 4th Ave S ramp to I-5, I-90, etc.

3rd Ave S is closed between Royal Brougham and Edgar Martinez Dr.

Royal Brougham closed between Occidental Ave S and 4th Ave S. Parking access maintained before and after major events.

East Marginal Way Grade Separation

Duwamish Ave S is closed to through traffic (except local access). The right lane of eastbound S Spokane St is also closed between Duwamish Ave S and East Marginal Way South for the duration of the project.

Through Dec 2010

Crew work at 1st Ave S and Railroad Way S

SCL crews will start excavation at 1st Ave S and Railroad Way S for a duct bank that will be installed. SPU crews will also be performing sewer work for a future sewer replacement.

Through Dec 2010

Crew work on Occidental Ave S between S King St and Royal Brougham

SPU crews will be drilling water monitoring holes on Occidental Ave S in preparation of a new vault being installed.

Maintenance Closure of Alaskan Way Viaduct

Crews will be closing the Alaskan Way Viaduct both Saturday and Sunday for bi-annual maintenance.
