Over 300 map toting location-hunters scavenged the Admiral and Alki area between 10am and 1pm, Saturday, March 20, at the Alki Street Scramble event which partnered with the charity Feet First, a pedestrian advocacy group. Eric Bone, owner of Meridian Geographics, held the starting clock. His company put on the event. He does compass navigation training in his Magnuson Park location.

Three hundred-plus people attended the Alki Street Scramble urban scavenger hunt, with check points on a map of Alki, North Admiral, and a few spots a bit further south. The object is to find a corresponding question to a multiple choice answer in 90 minutes, or 3 hours, depending on your heat. Categories for ribbons include walking, biking and pushing strollers. Feet First, a pedestrian advocacy group, will benefit from entry fees collected.
One question with its red number stamped on the map at Schmitz park describes "wooden stairs" and asks, "How many steps are there, 18, 24, or 30?" There were 55 questions total.
The "Scrambled Eggs," Lori Withrow and Rhiana Wiggins of West Seattle were a bicycle team donning bright yellow hooded tops.
After the race they said in unison, "Now we are fried eggs." Well, it was a lot of walking, and hot and sunny, too, and they won for their category, too.
