Police Blotter week of 4-12-10
Mon, 04/12/2010
While driving, a citizen calls 911 after spotting a family member (who is wanted on a $10,000 warrant) loitering around the South Park library. The suspect starts to run when he sees officers, but a second relative steps in, grabs the suspect, and holds him until officers can take him into custody.
Four teens were seen milling around a home on Marine View Drive Monday. The home was later reported as the site of a broken window/possible break-in attempt. The suspects were three teen boys and one teen girl. All wore red, and the girl had purple tint in her hair. And Tuesday, four Hispanic males—traveling in a burgundy Mazda—are suspected of having kicked in the front door of a home in the 4100 block of 45th SW.
A 42-year-old Morgan-area resident was booked into King County Jail after he kicked a dog and then threatened and pushed passersby at California and Alaska around 7 p.m. Thursday. The suspect—who was intoxicated and hostile with police—was transferred to a medic van after he began screaming and kicking at the windows of the patrol car. Medics also noted that they saw the suspect repeatedly banging his head on the ground.
Unknown persons broke into a home on S. Donovan and stole video game players and games, CDs, a shotgun and rifle, jewelry, and a pit bull puppy.
A 15-year-old who had been suspended from school was upset that his mother didn't want him spending his, uh, “free” time hanging out and smoking dope with his buddies. So he punched the living room wall and slammed mom against her car door. Stepdad restrained him briefly. Sonny then called 911, claiming that stepdad had assaulted him. Meanwhile, a records check showed that the boy was considered a runaway and was wanted on a felony warrant for “absconding while on parole for possession of a stolen vehicle.” He was taken into custody and booked into the Youth Service Center for the warrant and for investigation of DV assault and property damage.
Officers arrived at South Seattle Community College on Tuesday after being called to deal with a 37-year-old mentally ill man who refused to leave the campus. He told officers he “wanted answers” and that he would attack the police and other people to get them. His concern: People are taking the eyes out of children and selling them as diamonds. And he wants to “take these people out.” The suspect was transported to Harborview for a mental exam and has been trespassed from the college.
With her children along for the ride, a 25-year-old, reeking of pot smoke, got out of her car to speak with officers. She explained that her friend (a convicted felon with numerous warrants and some drug arrests) had tried to rip her off. Her issues were civil matters the officers could do nothing about. They were more concerned that she 1) gave them a false name, 2) smoked dope while driving with the kids, and 3) allowed this friend of dubious background to frequently serve as the kids' caregiver.
