Freshman Brittney Blokker drove in the winning run in the top of the seventh, and senior pitcher Sophie Overlock-Pauley survived a bases-loaded scare in the bottom the seventh, as the Ballard High School softball team escaped Issaquah with a 3-2 win April 21.
Issaquah jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and held it until Ballard was able to even the score in the fourth.
Blokker's RBI single in the top of the seventh gave Ballard the lead for good, but the Beavers were not safe yet.
Issaquah had loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but Overlock-Pauley, who threw five strikeouts and gave up five hits in seven innings, was able to force two groundouts to end the game.
The Beavers have won two of their last three games and three of their last five to bring their record to 3-4 in KingCo and 7-4 overall.
Ballard squares off against Eastlake at 4 p.m. on April 23 at Lower Woodland.
