How do you ask a girl to Prom?
It was hard to miss the invitation painted on the windows of Tailor Kowis' apartment. The question PROM? was painted quickly while she went for a walk with a friend. In this photo some shrubbery obscures the question mark.

The Herald heard about a very special invitation that was offered to a student at West Seattle High School. We asked her to write about it in her own words.

On Tuesday, April 13th after non stop thinking about who I would go to my Senior prom with, my best friend Holly came over for a walk to help me get my mind off of it. Or so I thought.
When Holly and I got back to my house, which is faced along Alki Avenue, written in huge colorful letters was the word PROM?
It stretched across my three front windows. I was so surprised!! All I could think was who is asking me to prom right now? We walked into the house and sitting on a table at my front door was a note with my name on it, and two note cards one with the word yes and one with no. Inside the note it said "please pick up the following cards & you will be picking the yes or no cards shortly. Please proceed to your room with both cards in your hand where a man awaits you, and hand the man your chosen card. Choose wisely."
I picked up the cards and nervously walked to my room, I opened the door and to my surprise my friend Nefi was waiting for me. I was shocked! I handed him the YES card and he gave me a dozen white roses .
He said he thought I would say no but I told him I would love to go with him. Nefi said later, " Well I was really nervous to paint the letters because I m really bad at drawing. Plus I was really scared of getting rejected."
We kept the word PROM up on our window all week and many people from school came up to me with questions about who asked me to prom because they had driven past my window and saw the word.
I love telling the story because it was so unique and being asked to prom is something I have always wanted to experience.
Since then, I have gotten my dress and we just ordered Nefi's tux. We have our limo booked and reservations at the Steelhead Diner in the Pike Place Market. I'm getting my makeup done at Bare Essentials and have a hair appointment to get it professionally done. The dance will be on May 15th on the waterfront, it will be great.
Everything that I have always hoped for to happen for my senior prom has happened and I can't wait for the big day!
