Air marshal pleads not guilty
Lecheton O. Settles a federal air marshal is being held at the Regional Justice Center in Kent on $250,000 bail. He is being charged with one count of first-degree rape. Settles is accused of raping a woman at a SeaTac hotel. He originally denied having sexual contact with the 24-year-old woman, but recanted after learning the woman had accurately described to investigators his hairless body. Settles pleaded not guilty Wednesday, April 28.
'Forced' bank robbery
A female bank robber passed a note to a teller at the Sterling Savings Bank in Burien demanding money. She told the teller that she was being forced to do it and "he" would make her rob another bank if she didn't get the money. No weapons were used or implied during the robbery. It's not clear how much money was taken. The robber was described as white, about 40 years old, 5 feet, 5 inches with a medium build and bruising around her mouth and face.
Stolen items, dead fish
Police responded to a residential burglary. Evidence showed that the suspect(s) broke out the basement window and climbed through it to gain access to the home. The homeowners said that many items were stolen. They also noted that the fish in their fish tank were dead. It appears the suspects put gasoline into the water to kill them.
Wallet stolen from vehicle
A woman was pumping gas at the Circle K on South 177th and Des Moines Memorial Drive. She had placed her wallet on the front seat of her car while she pumped gas. Her back was to the car and she did not see the subject approach her vehicle and take her wallet. No subject information was available.
Man passed out in breezeway
Officers arrived to a call of a passed out drunk in the 15700 block of 1st Ave. S. Deputy's found the suspect on the ground near the Sprint Store. Lying next to him was a mostly consumed can of Steel Reserve 2-11. The man was taken to detox.
