Ten times in the past nine months, officers have responded to complaints about excessive noise from a home in the 5900 block on 34th SW. Around 2 a.m. Friday, officers gave the tenants another warning to tone it down. At 3:30 the party was still roaring along at full blast, with empty beer cans and garbage all over the front lawn and sidewalk. So, noting that the tenants had “refused or intentionally failed to cease an unreasonable noise after being ordered to do so,”officers took advantage of the Seattle Municipal Code 25.08.500, and seized three guitars and two amplifiers. They also arrested the tenants for investigation of the noise disturbance.
Around 8 p.m. Friday, a father sat at the bleachers at Alki Playfield, yelled repeated obscenities at his daughter's baseball coach, and later threatened to kill the coach's family. Gone by the time officers arrived, he was arrested at home later that night and booked into King County Jail for investigation of harassment.
Down at Alki, a 21-year-old woman was arrested for investigation of obstruction after fist-fighting with other summer revelers and refusing to leave the scene after being told to by police.
Another 21-year-old had her 2-year-old temporarily given to Child Protective Services after officers responded to her home for another matter and found trash everywhere, rotting food, an abundance of flies, and mold covering many surfaces. The good news is that the child seemed properly nourished and was in good spirits.
A preliminary investigation shows that the executor of a local estate may have absconded with $120,000 from a special trust fund.
When an ex-wife picked up some items from her former home, she was concerned about the living conditions and asked officers to check on the welfare of her 14-year-old former stepson. Officers found the house in disarray, with dog feces on the floor and rotting food, cartons, and dishes everywhere. When the homeowner was warned that Child Protective Services would be contacted, he promised officers he'd clean up and return the home to a livable condition.
If you're going to be involved in a disturbance, it's best to have a clean record. A 24-year-old whose ID was checked as part of a police response at Alki ended up in jail because he was wanted on a $10,000 misdemeanor warrant from Seattle Municipal Court.
