Following up on numerous recent complaints of juvenile mischief, officers took a “patrol stroll” through Schmitz Park late Tuesday and came upon several familiar faces. One belonged to a local 17-year-old who was wanted on three warrants: one for domestic violence, another for marijuana possession, and a third—a felony—for assaulting a police officer. He was arrested for the warrants and booked into the Youth Service Center. Interesting to note that the young man was supposed to be on house arrest at the time of his capture. It seems he had cut off his electronic monitoring device.
A woman called 911 about an alleged domestic violence incident. When officers arrived (they had been at the apartment several days earlier as well), they found it in the same state of disarray as before, with broken glass, food scraps, and garbage littering the floor. The woman needed assistance to stand upright (she admitted to drinking and taking Percoset and other drugs), and couldn't provide her date of birth or phone number. She insisted that officers “needed to get to the glider port” to stop her ex-husband from hurting other men and women. More concerned that would hurt herself, officers had her transported to Harborview for treatment.
A 17-year-old visitor from the East Coast was the victim of an unwanted groping in the Admiral area Tuesday afternoon. As she and two friends walked in the 2600 block of California Ave. SW, a man came up from behind, lifted her shirt and felt her rear. Officers did an unsuccessful search of the area for the suspect: a white male, aged 40-45, with straggly brown/gray shoulder-length hair and a dirty appearance. He wore a red and blue or red and gray windbreaker.
A Morgan Junction resident has been trespassed from several businesses after threatening to kill a bartender and for creating messes and causing disruptions in the area. The 26-year-old self-admitted heroin addict has been warned that continued ongoing problems may cause him to be evicted from his subsidized housing.
Early Thursday, a loud, intoxicated man (and friend) walked into a Charlestown-area mini-mart. When the owner asked Loud Man to keep his voice down, he ended up looking down the barrel of a semi-automatic handgun as Loud Man asked, “You want some?” The man's friend pulled his hand down, told him to knock it off, and shoved him out of the store and into a car. Officers later spotted the vehicle and pulled it over on Sylvan Way. Two of the four inside were arrested: Loud Man (for investigation of assault) and the driver (for DUI and for a DUI warrant). The friend who intervened and another passenger were interviewed and released.
