Burien Nissan is a homecoming for the Phillips family

Burien Nissan is open again and the new owners are a familiar face if you watch television or possibly if you just know the family. The Car Pros Company, run by the now instantly recognizable Ken Phillips for his catch phrase "You're gonna like what you see," has taken over the once shuttered dealership and opened Aug. 10.
The General Manager is Nick Phillips and for him and his whole family, it's a homecoming.
"I grew up in Normandy Park, went to MarVista, my brother went to Valley View, which is over there by Tukwila. My dad bought that house in Normandy Park and lived there for 30 years. I graduated from Mt. Rainier High School, went on to WSU and then came back and lived on Three Tree Point and all three of my kids were born at Highline Hospital. My internet manager Ryan Reed went to grade school and High School with me. Getting back to this Burien area is just like a homecoming for me. I played football games at Highline Memorial Stadium, played a bunch of little league on the fields there.
Phillps spent the last two years at the family dealership in Tacoma, "because we didn't have any stores in Burien."
The sales manager, Eric Davis worked at Glen Grant in Burien so he knows the area well too.
The company began with used car lot in 1992 in Auburn and has grown ever since. They now operate two dealerships in Los Angeles as well as several Kia dealerships (and were national sales leaders for the brand for four years) and a Suzuki dealership. They sold a Hyundai dealership when the Nissan dealership became available, "It was a no brainer for us," said Phillips.
The dealerships have been successful Phillps maintains because they sell in large volume and deal very honestly with customers. No special loss leader single price cars to entice buyers. "We will sell that same car at the advertised price not mark one down and sell the others at a higher price. If we have the same car, you can get it at that low price."
They maintain an inventory of about 50 used cars on the lot at any given time and because they are a new dealer, Nissan gave them a variety of cars and trucks to sell.
When the holidays arrive the dealership will institute a service where you bring your car in for service, such as an oil change, and they will
give you a shuttle ride to Southcenter where you can shop then call them when you are ready to go and come back to a cleaned and serviced car. They will also have a couple of Nissan trucks on hand you can borrow while your car is being serviced to go get your Christmas tree or even haul something away.
"My brother and I had lunch in downtown Burien the other day," said Phillips,"and we walked through the Farmer's Market. This is the town we want to be in. So many people have stopped by including the firemen, the policemen and the neighbors. It's just a really good small town feel. Everybody is so friendly and because I know the area and know so many people, I think we're going to do real well here."
