The new Link Apartments under construction on 38th s.w. saw major milestone in the lowering of the primary lift crane on Sept. 8.
The Link Apartments, under construction since last November on 38th s.w. saw a major milestone in the construction process today as the primary lift crane on the roof of the structure was taken down.
Harbor Properties is behind the project and notes that the construction will be complete in April of 2011. When finished the building will feature 14,000 square feet of street level Commercial/Retail and have 200 1 & 2 Bedroom Apartments, Studios and Garden Lofts. Also part of the building are a 3,200 square foot Indoor/Outdoor Rooftop Deck & Lounge Rooftop plus a P-Patch garden where residents can grow their own fresh vegetables.
The Link Apartments will be on the future RapidRide bus route and will have access to the fitness center at the nearby YMCA. The building will offer WIFI internet access in the lobby lounge and “Linked” private spaces. It is being built "Green Certified."
The West Seattle Herald spoke to Exxcel Pacific, the general contractors for the project. "For us the crane coming down is a major milestone," said Sean Stimac, Project Manager for Exxcel Pacific, "because we've got a major portion of the work done and the roof is all done. The bulk of our activities move to the interior. We're slightly ahead of schedule and so we're kind of beating the weather. We're dried in just before fall."
"It's going to bring a lot of people into that area and kind of revitalize that neighborhood", said Stimac.
The building is built on two levels with one section at 5 stories and another at 6 stories in height.
