Hansen Brothers Moving was handling all the transport chores but the employees had to pack everything up on carts and in bins. The phones had to all be routed to owner Dave Winters cell phone and while some work was deferred he said that work will begin right away on Monday.
Swedish Automotive works on Volvos and Saabs of course but they also service Subarus and after his people complete a training course on October 2 and 3 in Nevada Winters said, "We will be able to service Minis too," referring to the diminutive Mini Coopers that have seen sales increase in the last few years. That work can be booked as soon at October 4.
If you need service for your car they are already booking appointments, "next week is half full," said Winters.
The old facility had three bays when they began in 1990, and in 1991 they added one more. The new facility will have twelve. The new space has more than 8000 square feet while the old one has 2515. "I probably know it down to the square inches," Winters joked.
The company is holding an open house on Sept. 25th from noon to 4:00 p.m. Winters said Down Home Catering will supply the food for the event and a blue grass band will provide music. There will be 7 classic Volvo and Saab vehicles on display during the open house including one from 1953.
Moving into the now vacant location will be Todd Ainsworth and Chris Christensen (formerly of Alki Auto Repair) with a new identity, West Seattle AutoWorks.
