Chief Sealth International High School held their Community Celebration Sat. Sept. 25 and provided tours to the public that showed up by the hundreds to see what $50 million can mean when put into buildings, technology and innovative practice.

The marching band took the steps in front of the school just after 9:45 a.m. to welcome guests and entertain.
Nels Enquist, a 1970 graduate and who worked at Sealth for 30 years and has served as Athletic Director, Assistant Principal and more was on hand to conduct multiple tours of the facility. Principal John Boyd said, "Nobody know the building better than Nels."
Reactions were all positive to the work done.
Claudia Brim Lyle and James Lyle , Sealth graduates in 1967 and 1965 respectively were touring the campus. Claudia said, "I think it's wonderful, so far I've only seen this hall!" James said, "I think it's great I really do, wow."
Well known West Seattle attorney and '65 graduate Jerome Cohen was there too and said,This is incredible. Incredible facility, everything is just gorgeous." Cohen was the Senior Class President and continued, "In our class we had like 750 kids, just in the senior class so it was quite a bit more crowded since now they have something like 1100 kids for the whole school. For us it was shoulder to shoulder."

Sally Hagen 1977 graduate brought her daughter Rose who will graduate in 2013 to the celebration. Sally said, "It's fun to see how things have changed but are still kind of the same." Rose commented, " It's really big and it's fancy."
"I think it's really cool," said Sealth student Janelle Maroney. Another student Jonica Strongman said,"I love it. I love that it's so close to my house. I've never had a new school before and it's a huge change from Boren."
