The long awaited Wingdome restaurant has announced its official opening date in the Junction. It will be Oct. 12 and hot sauce lovers around the area are expected to converge in celebration. The address is 4523 California Ave. s.w.

Nicole Aly, Marketing Manager for Consolidated Restaurants, the parent company said, "We are officially going to open on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. and we're going to be running our lunch specials all day to help kick it off."

While there won't be a cake or other opening ceremonies Aly said, "We're definitely ready to bring some wings to the community."

The restaurant has three other locations in Greenwood, Kent and Kirkland and specializes in chicken wings as their slogan "Hot Wings - Cold Brew - Big Fun" implies.

Also on the menu are items like their Wing Dome Philly described as "Thin sliced beef with a splash of hot! Seared with onions, peppers and pepperoncinis. Topped with pepperjack cheese, " or salads like the Red Hot Cobb Salad made of "Crisp romaine, grilled chicken, bacon, blue cheese crumbles, hard-boiled egg, tomatoes, red onions and diced jalapeños. Served with blue cheese dressing."

Aly said they are currently running an NFL promotion. "We have a tournament going on where we have people sign up in store or online where they can play and make picks, and we're going to be giving away a "Man Cave" at the end of the year. It will feature a 'kegerator' and a big chair," she said.

What if a woman wins? "I don't see any woman complaining about receiving a leather recliner, 42" plasma TV and kegerator," said Aly.

The promotion also gives away gift certificates each week.
