The casual restaurant is part of the Consolidated Restaurants company, one of the oldest Seattle restaurant companies, being founded in 1951. There are now four Wingdomes in the area and the company also operates Metropolitan Grill, Elliott's Oyster House, Steamers Seafood Cafe, and Quincy's Charbroiled Burgers.
The West Seattle Herald spoke to the President of the company, Jim Rowe who said, "We are a local greater Seattle area company, and that's really where our focus is. We think the Wingdome concept, which is really our growth concept is the market to approach now in the Seattle market."
One of the hallmark specials for the Wingdome is their Seven Wing Challenge using Seven Alarm Sauce. IF you successfully eat SEVEN 7-alarm wings in 7 minutes with no beverages, napkins and lick the plate clean you get a t-shirt, major bragging rights and your photo on the Wall of Flame.
The Wingdome first opened in 1997 and was acquired by Consolidated in 2006.
Rowe and his Director of Operations Phil Worchal agreed that the don't have a fixed formula for working out the menu items. "We try things and see what works," said Rowe. Worchal said, "Sometimes we try it in one place and if people like it, take it to the other locations." Rowe continued, "We listen to our guests and read our comment cards." They are happy to be in the Junction, "This is a great community," Rowe said, "We're happy to be part of it."
Worchal offered some stats on the volume the restaurants do. "We go through 120,000 pounds of wings every month in the Wingdome restaurants combined," he said.
The company likes to get involved in the communities they do business in by supporting local charities and other agencies. "There are things we support we don't talk about very much," said Worchal, " but we like to get involved."
Jack Menashe owner of Menashe Jewelers in the Junction said, "As a person that lives here in West Seattle I think this is a nice addition to West Seattle. I think it's a wonderful family orientated restaurant and I think it's going to do very well. The image and everything is wonderful for the area. As a businessman I think it will draw a lot of people to the area because of the concept as well as the reputation of Consolidated Restaurants."
