On Oct. 5, the Ballard Rotary honored the Ballard High School Students of the Month for September 2010.
Jamie Thelen, senior
Current ASB President Jamie Thelan is an exceptional and positive student athlete leader who not only excels in the classroom but on the field as well.
She has been a four-year varsity letter winner in fastpitch softball and an active ASB member since she was a sophomore. Thelan mentored freshman as a Link Crew leader for two years and is a member of the Maritime Academy, while maintaining a 3.9 GPA.
Her future goals are to graduate from a four-year university with a degree in business specializing in marketing. Her ultimate career goal is to become a dolphin trainer at Sea World.
Mallory Cummins, senior
Current ASB Vice President Mallory Cummins is an ambitious student leader who sets an exceptional example of excellence for her student body.
She has been involved in ASB for three year and is a member of the Astronomy Club. Cummins started the Invisible Children Club and raised more than $2,000 for Ugandan schools. She also received honorable mention for a documentary she produced.
Cummins aspires to attend a four-year university in California with a career goal of becoming a high school administrator.
The Ballard Rotary honors outstanding Ballard High School students each month during the school year. These individuals, as well as others, are eligible to participate in the annual Ballard Rotary Scholarship award. Ballard Rotary has been recognizing the achievements of local students since 1991.
