Scare up some frightful fun for the whole family, even the family pooch, at the free Boo in Burien Saturday, Oct. 30. From noon to 5 p.m., check out uncanny happenings in downtown Burien ranging from pumpkin bowling and trick-or-treating to Wiener Dog Races.
Little ghosts and goblins can try out their best scare tactics while trick-or-treating at businesses marked with a "Trick or Treaters welcomed" sign. Trick or treating starts at noon and ends when the candy runs out-so start early! Shops will also offer otherworldly store specials.
Pumpkins will transform into bowling balls or works of art at two different locations. Get creative by painting pumpkins to take home. Painting will continue at Grocery Outlet, 236 S.W. 152nd St., from noon until the gourds run out. Test athletic prowess by bowling with a pumpkin at Elliott Bay Brewhouse & Pub, 255 S.W. 152nd St., from 1 to 3 p.m.

Youthful spirits can model their ghoulish garb in the Children's Costume Parade at 3 p.m., sponsored by Goodie Gumdrops. The parade starts on Southwest 152nd Street where it intersects with Ninth Avenue Southwest in Olde Burien.
The family dog has two options for leaping into the spectral excitement. First is a costume competition in the Costumed Dog Parade, which starts at 3:15 p.m. At 4 p.m., it's daring dachshunds dashing in the Wiener Dog Race. Beginning at noon, register participating pooches for a $3 suggested donation for each event. Prizes will be awarded to costume and race winners. Both events, including registration, take place on Southwest 152nd Street where it intersects with Ninth Avenue Southwest in Olde Burien.
At Collins Chiropractic, 619 S.W. 152nd St., young specters can try their hand at spooky crafts. Experience the tantalizing terror of the haunted house at Moss Chiropractic, 612 S.W. 152nd St., from 1 to 5 p.m. Dr. Jonna Moss and her staff, family and patients have 16 years of fearsome experience. While there is no gore, the haunted house is not suitable for children ages 5 and younger, including babies.
