The Chief Sealth International High School Spirit Dinner and Auction raised "close to $25,000," said PTSA President Amy Daly Donovan. The money will go to directly support arts programs at the school enabling for example the purchase of new instruments for the band or digital cameras for the photography program.
The held, Nov. 18 saw more than 250 community members and supporters come together to raise money for the school, which opened this fall after a $50 million renovation and remodel.
In a letter to Sealth Supporters Donovan wrote:
Thank you to everyone who donated items, volunteered time and effort, baked delicious desserts, and attended the 2nd Annual Seahawk Spirit Dinner & Auction! The evening was a great success – attendees were entertained by members of the renowned Chief Sealth International High School band, orchestra, and honor choir. The auction was kicked off with a lively couple of cheers from our awesome cheerleaders, and awards were presented to our valued community partners (Friends of Sealth, El Centro de la Raza, and Campana Quetzal). We netted nearly $25,000 to support academics, athletics, the arts, and student activities. Thank you all for your generosity and support! We are especially grateful to Dick Lee and Karla Boyd, Auction Co-Chairs, and auction committee members Janet Hillier, Leslie Menstell, Lisa Sattler, and Alisa Weaver.
