Press Release:
The Seattle Storm today announced the organization’s schedule of holiday community events headlined by Brian Agler, the reigning WNBA Coach of the Year.
Beginning on Wednesday, Dec.15, Head Coach Brian Agler will make a pregame visit to the Renton High School girls basketball team. Agler will talk with the team about how hard work and dedication in practice can lead to great things. On Thursday, Dec. 16, Agler, CEO Karen Bryant and the entire Storm staff along with students from Dearborn Park Elementary will volunteer their efforts at the Emergency Feeding Program of Seattle/King County by packaging food that will be distributed to local food banks.
“I enjoy returning to Seattle during the offseason and volunteering my time to those in need,” said Agler. “This community has been an integral part of our success as a team and an organization. I can’t think of a better way to express our gratitude.”
Coach Agler will head to Vashon Island’s Chautauqua Elementary on Friday, Dec. 17 for an assembly encouraging the students to participate in the school’s basketball program. Later that afternoon, Agler will travel to West Seattle High School to speak with the girls’ basketball team at their practice session.
Agler will host a Jr. Storm Basketball Clinic on Saturday, Dec. 18 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Crossroads Community Center for boys and girls grades kindergarten through sixth. From 1-2 p.m. Agler will lead a basketball clinic for local high school girls at the same location. Those interested in attending either of the two clinics are encouraged to register online at stormbasketball.com
Also, on Saturday, Dec. 18, Agler, along with Holiday Doppler will sign autographs and take photos at the Storm Team Shop located on KeyArena’s West Plaza from 3-4 p.m. The Team Shop, filled with Championship and holiday-themed Storm merchandise, has many great gift options for everyone on your shopping list.
