The National Weather Service is predicting some snow for West Seattle for tonight and Wednesday.
From the NWS West Seattle Page:
Tonight: A chance of rain showers before 10pm, then rain and snow showers likely. Snow level 1600 feet lowering to 900 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. North northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 42. Calm wind becoming northwest between 8 and 11 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Winter just started and if how the city handled the cold snap and snow in November is any indication it will be even more important to be prepared. The City has a partnership with Take Winter by Storm, part of govlink.org and they have a very useful checklist you can download and print from the link above.
While the current forecast is not that dire more winter weather is likely. The recommendations include having enough food and water on hand for at least three days and of course flashlights, batteries, a first aid kit, and much more.
