4Culture, King County’s Cultural Services Agency, announced the 2011 opportunities and deadlines for funding programs in the fields of arts, heritage and historic preservation and send out the following information in a press release:
4Culture funding programs, supported by King County Lodging Tax revenue, are available to King County residents and organizations. Awards granted through these programs develop and maintain the cultural resources, creative expression and unique character of King County people and communities.
Application deadlines for 2011 funding programs are listed below. Applications and guidelines for each opportunity will be posted at least 6 weeks prior to the application deadline. King County-based administrators, practitioners, specialists and community representatives in the applicable field evaluate applications based on a set of published criteria. Panel recommendations are submitted to the 4Culture Board for final approval.
Free public workshops, offering prospective applicants opportunities to meet with program staff and other applicants, understand specific guidelines, and go through a step-by-step review of the application process, will be held at
Heritage Special Projects – February 23, 2011
Supports projects by organizations and heritage specialists that focus on King County’s historic resources and cultural traditions
Heritage Cultural Education – February 23, 2011
Supports K-12 curriculum enhancement projects that focus on King County history and meet Washington State Assessment Standards
Landmark Rehabilitation - March 2, 2011
Provides funds to stabilize, assess, rehabilitate and restore designated King County Landmarks

Staff members will tour throughout King County, answering questions about 4Culture’s funding opportunities and sharing their tips on how to put together a successful application. This year, 4Culture staff will be joined on the road by a representative from Humanities Washington to discuss that organization’s grant programs. Everyone interested in arts, heritage and preservation are invited to attend the following workshop:
