UPDATE 2: West Seattle man Jeremy Peck missing, search planned for Sunday, Jan. 9
Sat, 01/08/2011
The photo above is of Jeremy Peck who went missing in late December. A family friend of Jeremy's sent this photo to the Herald and said a search party will be formed on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 10:30 a.m., meeting at Puerto Vallarta at 4727 California Ave. s.w. and splitting up into search groups from there.
If you would like to help the search you are asked to join the effort by showing up to join the search party or by emailing Cheryl Perry.
On. Jan. 7 Seattle police Southwest Precinct Operations Lt. Pierre Davis said the precinct was aware that Peck was missing, but to his knowledge the police are not actively searching for him at this time.
Jeremy Peck was last seen the early morning hours of Christmas eve, about 1:00 am at the Admiral Pub on California Ave.
The Herald has received information from Cheryl Perry which may assist in the search for Peck. Here is her information.
"DOB; 12/10/86, 24 years old
He is 6' 1", 177 lb
Brown Hair
Brown eyes
Last seen wearing blue Jeans, tennis shoes, black waist length coat over a gray hoodie type sweatshirt.
He was with several friends at the pub who left before he did so its likely he walked home. Friends of Jeremy showed bus drivers this week, on the route he would have taken home the flyers that we made and passed out with his picture, but the drivers don't recall seeing him.
Jeremy lived with his uncle John near Juneau and Fauntleroy area and did not have a vehicle, so if he walked home he would have walked down California Ave. to Alaska or even Juneau, most likely. Jeremy was not on any type of medication, had no mental illnesses, all friends and family members have been contacted and checked in to let us know he has not been seen.
John, thought it was unusual for Jeremy not to come home for Christmas and started contacting friends, Jeremy had a lot of friends, but by New Years Eve after checking with everyone Jeremy knew, John called the police.
Jeremy lived with his uncle John Peck since early childhood when his birth mother became ill and is father was unable to take care of him. John took Jeremy on and raised like his own son in West Seattle, he went to Madison and West Seattle high school and was well know and well liked happy and funny guy.
Last thursday January 6th several friends gathered and spread out to search for any clues to Jeremy's dissappearance and turned up nothing, that search was hindered by rain. We have orgainzed another search for tomorrow Sunday January 9th, so far we have a much larger crowd who has committed to helping John find Jeremy, we will be meeting at the Puerta Vallarta restaurant in the Alaska Junction at 10:30 am, breaking off into groups, some will be attempting to retrace Jeremy's possible trek home and others will be searching in areas we weren't able to get to Thursday.
Jeremy was aired as a missing person on KIRO 7 on thursday, but they have contacted us now and asked to 'tag along' tomorrow as we search for Jeremy or any clues.
I would like to mention to you out of respect for the Peck family who is really hurting right now and that is that people on the blog (West Seattle Blog) have asked why he didn't call the police sooner and John is really down on himself right now after hearing those comments, but Jeremy is an adult, and currently unemployed, John works during the day, so he thought maybe we just keep missing each other or he's partying with friends for the holidays, but when he started checking and no one has seen or heard from him and he could not be reached on his cell phone, that's when he called the police. Jeremy, now and then has spent a couple days with friends and always calls or returns home, so this is not like him to not contact anyone."
